Interactive Aquarium Could Come To Long Island

Officials have questions for the company, though, including about its treatment of its animals.

Newsday reports a new interactive aquarium may be coming to Long Island, if the company can get approval for the venture from the Town of Oyster Bay.

Newsday reports that SeaQuest Holdings LLC, a company based in Idaho, is looking to build one of its interactive aquariums in the Sunrise Mall in Massapequa. SeaQuest aquariums feature animals from all over the world that guests can interact with, as well as exhibits where they can swim with exotic marine life.

However, the company has come under fire for its treatment of animals, Newsday reported, with many of its locations being the subject of protests over the years. Oyster Bay officials voiced concerns about this at a meeting earlier this month where the special-use permits the company would need were discussed.
