When wishing our moms a Happy Mother's day this weekend, it is important to remember how imperative it is to adopt our pets, not buy them. Female dogs born in puppy mills are brought up in the worst possible conditions, then used to breed sometimes dozens of times only to be tossed away. If people support pet stores, puppy mills will continue to thrive and these dogs will continue to suffer, all while shelter dogs lose their chance at a forever home. Please remember to support our local shelters this weekend, and always.
And speaking of adopting a great pet, if it's a dog your in the market for, Last Hope Animal Rescue in Wantagh has the perfect pooch for you. Fred (pictured) is a 4 month old Basset Hound puppy seeking a breed experienced home...He craves attention, and because he is still a big (27 lb) baby, Fred will need training and consistency. He loves other dogs, but because of puppy exuberance will probably do best in a home with a tolerant dog who can show him the ropes and will put up with puppy pranks. If your more of a cat person, have no fear. Greta (pictured) was rescued last January when she was only 4 months old. She craves human affection and is the sweetest little girl. This little lady needs a new family where someone can monitor her eating and give her some one on one attention.
