Update: Elderly Man Struck and Killed by Vehicle on Sunrise Highway
Highway closed for hours after 82-year-old man dies near train station.
An 82-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed while trying to cross Sunrise Highway during rush hour Thursday, police said.
The unidentified man was hit by a vehicle at 4:45 p.m. on the west side of the highway near Park Boulevard, just yards away from the station.
He was taken by ambulance to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, 45 minutes later. Witnesses said the victim appeared to be in bad shape when paramedics arrived. "He wasn't healthy," said one man who came on the scene shortly after the accident.

There did not appear to be any immediate signs of criminality. The accident investigation closed both sides of Sunrise Highway for about four hours, snarling traffic all around the area.
