Many Of New York's Best Places To Live Are On LI, Company Says

Everyone who lives on Long Island knows that it has a lot to offer. Many people set down roots here and stay to raise their families, who in turn set down their own roots.

Long Islanders can argue forever about what the best communities in the area are, though. Is it south by the ocean, or north by the Sound? Or maybe somewhere in the middle? Well, the website HomeSnacks recently ranked the best places to live in New York, and most of the top 10 places were Long Island communities. So maybe that will make your arguments a little easier.

HomeSnacks said it crunched numbers from new census data and FBI statistics. They looked at home values, median income, crime rates, education, poverty and more, and rated each criteria. They then compiled the numbers to find the best places to live.

So where's the best spot in New York? According to HomeSnacks, it's North Hills.

Here are their top 10 places to live in New York:

1. North Hills
2. East Hills
3. Floral Park
4. Massapequa Park
5. Malverne
6. Rockville Centre
7. Lawrence
8. Rye
9. Mineola
10. Williston Park

Nearly all of the best places to live were in the tri-county area. There were a smattering upstate locations that made the list.
