Massapequa High School’s music ensembles brought the sounds of the holiday season to the community during its annual holiday concert.
Performances by the Women’s Chorus, Symphony Orchestra, and A Capella Choir directed by Ilena Dempsey, Marjorie Spagnuolo and Nichole Greene, respectively, had audience members smiling and applauding in delight as they delivered a festive variety of traditional songs and those enjoyed from around the world. Songs from other countries included the Nigerian Carol Ogo ni Fun Oluwa and the Portugese Adest Fideles, while traditional songs, such as “A Christmas Festival,” “Sleigh Ride,” and “Chanukah Festival Overture,” were showcased.
“We are proud to share with you the accomplishments of our music ensembles over the past few months while spreading some holiday cheer to our residents through music,” said Dr. David Gaines, the district’s curriculum associate for music.
