Massapequa Has Season's First Significant Snow
Roads are passable for weekend storm.

Winter finally began in Massapequa Saturday.
After a month of warmer than average temperatures and no frozen precipitation, the area saw it's first snow event.
There were no snowfall totals immediately available for Masapequa, but as of 11 a.m 2 inches were reported in Levittown and 2.8 inches in Plainview. Higher totals were reported on the eastern end of Long Island.

Massapequa Park Mayor James Altadonna said he believed about 2 inches had fallen in the Village.
"We're doing well," he said. "It's almost a non-event. We have the roads salted, it wasn't enough to get a plow down. We have salters out there to keep the roads clear to blacktop."

Drivers should exercise caution however as the snow changed to a wintry mix by afternoon. There were several accidents reported on Long Island roads.
The Long Island Rail Road's Babylon branch which serves and was running on schedule at 1 p.m.
Temperatures are expected to drop to 21 degrees Saturday night, but the cold weather will be short lives.
By Monday, we're expecting rain and a high temperature of 54 degrees.
