Massapequa Student Reportedly Pleads Guilty in New Zealand Crash
Stephen Houseman convicted in crash that killed three Boston University students.

A Massapequa resident who was behind the wheel of a minivan that crashed in New Zealand killing three of his classmates pleaded guilty Wednesday to careless driving charges, it was reported.
Stephen Houseman, 20, a student at Boston University, will not receive any jail time, according to the Associated Press.
Houseman and was driving one of three minivans headed for a hiking path near Turangi, New Zealand last month.

The minivan drifted to the side of the road and when Houseman tried to correct his course, it rolled over several times.
Austin Brashears, of California; Daniela Lekhno, of New Jersey; and Roch Jauberty, of Paris, France were killed in the crash.

"It was a classic careless driving case where the carelessness was slight but the outcome was massive," said Judge Brooke Gibson, according to Fairfax Media.
Gibson disqualified Houseman from driving for six months.
