Local middle and high school students worked together to help those affected by the recent hurricanes.

Several student organizations in the Massapequa School District banded together to help the victims of recent hurricanes.

The Chiefs Challenge clubs at Massapequa High School’s main and Ames campuses combined to raise more than $700 for the American Red Cross to support those affected by Hurricane Harvey.

Students sold packets of gum during the school day and at back-to- school nights, attached to index cards that read “Thanks for going the EXTRA miles for Hurricane Harvey victims.”
