Maybe Because It’s

Tuesday

Maybe because it’s Tuesday, and yes, it is snowing,

But I do wonder..........

The headlines of today’s breaking news inject two items into my quandary,

One is repetitive although the narrator is different, but my wonderment is identical.

A prominent politician has disclosed a sexual assault early in life. When Congress is fractured over funds to relieve countless unemployed Americans, is this disclosure important now to the American people? I am certain the Congresswoman may enjoy a degree of sympathy from staff and/or constituents, but most citizens are enduring other current life changing traumas.

There are few humans, either male or female, who upon reaching the age of maturity cannot recount some traumatic event earlier in life. I certainly can, and frankly, in 2021 most people are not interested in remembering, recounting or hearing another’s earlier travail. Our patience is rather stretched at this pivotal point in time worrying about family members still unable to get vaccine.

So I truly wish the duly elected member of the U.S. Congress would concentrate on doing her job rather than indulging in memories of yesterday’s aggressions.

The other story recounts the immense wealth of a highly publicized personality. Apparently, the celebrated tycoon is now wealthier than ever.

And indeed I do question, what difference does it make in today’s climate of new escalating Covid strains, inefficient vaccine distribution and an entire generation deprived of traditional education?

Does one man (or woman’s) accumulation of funds make a difference to others? In my humble opinion not unless it is used to help humanity in our current ongoing crisis for survival.

I optimistically hope that our national focus to eliminate the dreaded Covid becomes stronger in the months to come as the snow ebbs and hints of a new spring emerge.

Then perhaps life, as we once knew it, may resume and who knows, someone, somewhere might be again interested in the Congresswoman’s sexual history or the bank account of the British business magnate.
