Never To Be

Forgotten

The date is January 6, 2021, and it will go down in history.

And with sadness because in a moment the country changed from law and order to violence.

Perhaps some will say it started today, but I disagree.

It started quite a while ago with the permissiveness accorded all forms violence allowing the comfortable blanket of “protest.”

When a beloved landmark, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, a cherished house of worship, is the scene of graffiti two years in a row, and no one is punished, a path to violence is encouraged. Perhaps, even affirmed.

When businesses are destroyed, vehicles set on fire, and citizens abused, a path to violence is condoned, a precedent is set. It will hence be followed because it was once accepted by silence.

Today I listen as the shock and horror floods the TV. As always it is coated with political views and the yesterdays of other protests seemingly forgotten.

In this day of horror in our beautiful country, there are few without blame.

The politicians, both elected and hopeful candidates, are not innocents.

It is time if they love our country, to speak without party affiliation bias. but with an honest interpretation of events, people and beliefs.

It was an amazing moment in history when a Vice President defied his mentor, the President of the United States and chose the integrity of the U.S. Constitution.

It was a dark moment in history when a woman, as yet unnamed, lost her life.

It was a great day when Congress resumed and finished their role in history and rightfully certified an election in the United States of America.

Maybe it was also the moment when America woke up and unanimously reaffirmed our belief in law and order.
