North Massapequa Business Owner Named Grand Marshal for Columbus Lodge Feast and Festival

Robert Zabbia, a North Massapequa business owner, was recently awarded the title of Grand Marshal for the Columbus Lodge 2143’s Feast and Festival.

The Lodge is a Massapequa chapter of the Order of Sons of Italy in America and hosts the festival annually.

Zabbia, who is an Allstate Agency owner, earned this honor after years of supporting the festival as a sponsor and his time spent on the scholarship committee.

He started the Brian V. Zabbia Memorial Scholarship in honor of his late son as a member of the scholarship program for the Order in 2003.

The scholarship is awarded to high school students interested in pursuing a medical career.

Zabbia, along with the scholarship committee members, help pick the youth that receive the award each year.

Children of members are eligible, as well as teens from the Massapequa, Plainedge, and Farmingdale school districts.

In June, two recipients were awarded $750 toward their future studies.

Zabbia’s was honored to be the Grand Marshal at this year’s festivities that took place on Sunday, September 25 on North Broadway in North Massapequa.

"I have been sponsoring the festival since it opened up in Massapequa, and was proud to kick off the whole thing this year,” he said.
