Few can or will deny our country is currently in crisis.
The current static about political parties and personalities appears to be a smokescreen hiding the reality of increasing chaos.
Covid is at the top of the pyramid of fear.
The confusing messages from both sides of the political aisle do little to induce confidence. Every family either knows or has someone in their immediate world ill from the pandemic.
None of the escalating loud voices evoke assurance despite their repetition,
The current need for isolation and/or quarantine (as a method of protection) often provokes more serious emotional illness.
The education of our children ( our treasure,) has been seriously disrupted. Perhaps it is even permanently damaged. The school controversy seemingly is ongoing and negative.
A majority of medical, educational and food facilities are understaffed.
Most hospitals are desperately seeking skilled employees.
Many well known food chains have closed. It is difficult and/or impossible to keep restaurants open for normal hours.
Most mundane household items are missing from grocery shelves.
The latest report is that cat food is difficult to find. That could have a humorous side if it weren’t so sad.
Even more troubling is the rapid escalation in prices, not merely for cat food, but every item normally on a weekly shopping list.
If and when a product becomes available, we dare not question the increased price.
The norm of our daily existence has virtually disappeared and a solution is no longer apparent on the horizon.
So, I cannot find solace in the political rhetoric that seems to avoid the vital topic of precisely where America is in January, 2022.
I have no patience nor inclination to listen to whining voices casting blame on Trump, Biden or Fauci. That no longer matters.
What is imperative is that the multitude of problems our country faces today are solved quickly before they become irreversible.
That can only be done by a concerned countryman, not a politician, and until one appears, I can only repeat Mr. Gershwin’s words.
“Tell me where is the shepherd for this lost sheep?”
Or possibly, who is he or she?
