``` A Passion for Palm```
What is your passion? Do you have a clue how to attain it? Welcome to life on earth, where overt materialism and incessant greed elbow out humanity’s oneness, and completely
deflate spirituality by an obliterating margin. It has been said that, man is made of wickedness, and therefore reaps what he sows, but how can this be if we are created from and of The Almighty? Surely nothing nefarious resides in His demeanor? So, why is it we are willing to pile on negative labels, cantankerous traits, and unworthy characteristics to defile what is pure and noble?
Perhaps it has nothing to do with our genetic makeup or Soul, but lies in our faulty thinking, which is polluted by society’s stigmas and unjustified restraints that not only limit us, but apply false identifications, and negate our inherent Goodness. Maybe it is a backward way of evading defeat by calling upon our weaknesses and flaws, and thereby rendering any worthwhile possibilities as null and void. Surely, we cannot be accountable
for that which we were never suitable to fulfill or produce, right?
This Sunday commemorates Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem a week before His Resurrection. Did He arrive wearing superior quality majestic robes of fine silk, or adorned with expensive jewels and an exalted crown, or a certified proclamation of His royal stature? No, He sat upon a lowly donkey. There was nothing spectacular to call any attention to Him, no trace of anything that would have denoted eminence. Yet, people knew, and waved palms, and placed them on the ground for the mere donkey’s steps
.
We can no longer deny our grandness. No more failure protocols or recalcitrant behaviors. Embrace it. We are derived of God’s Divine Spirit. Jesus wept as He approached Jerusalem as He knew the misery and suffering that would occur for many. He cried for you; He proceeded with the inevitable so you could live abundantly. On a donkey, palms present, tears flooding His vision, He continued
knowing that the scenario would only grow bleaker.
Throughout history palms have been utilized as a symbol of peace and eternal life. How appropriate that our Prince of Peace was saluted with palms in a festive reception.
With Holy Week about to commence, what are your priorities? Is your Spiritual treasure chest open to receive as well as allow others to dip into it?
And so it was foretold: Zechariah 9:9, The Coming of Zion’s King
“Rejoice greatly, O Daughter of Zion! Shout, Daughter of Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and having salvation, gentle and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.”
