Pravato, Spinosa Sworn In To Sixth Terms

Massapequa Park holds Annual Installation-Organization Meeting

Deputy Mayor Jeffrey Pravato and Trustee Teresa Spinosa, two of the longest-serving members of the Massapequa Park Village Board, were officially sworn in for their sixth terms Monday.

Along with Pravato and Spinosa, a host of other Village public servants were also sworn in at Massapequa Park's annual Installation-Organization meeting, which was attended  friends, family, and supporters of those taking their oaths that evening.

While the event was attended by several high-ranking members of Oyster Bay government, including Councilman Joseph Pinto, R-Massapequa Park, whose duty it was to swear in Pravato to his new term as Village Deputy Mayor, a position he has held for the past ten years.

Pravato expressed his pleasure in being given the opportunity to continue to serve the people of Massapequa Park.

“I want to thank everyone that came out and voted for me, and I want to thank the Mayor and the board for all their support,” he said. “I want to say something about this board- this board listens, and they listen well to the public. They have fiscal responsibility...we live within our means.”

“Also important is the relationship that this Village has with our State, our Town, and our County is second to none,” Pravato added. “I’d like to thank them as well.”

Supervisor John Venditto, could not attend the ceremony, so Nassau Legislator Peter J. Schmitt, R-Massapequa, swore in Spinosa.

Spinosa was grateful for the public’s faith in her decade of service to the Village.

“I want to thank you for giving me the past ten years of public service,” she said. “I really consider it an honor to have served everyone of this Village. It’s really a wonderful job, and I encourage young people to step up to the plate and consider a career in public service. It’s very rewarding.”

Mayor James Altadonna lauded praise upon his two re-elected officers, saying that their contributions have helped to make Massapequa Park a great place to live.

“These two have been here the longest, I’m very proud to serve with them,” he said. “It’s no secret that we’ve balanced our budget, and it’s no secret that these people have helped to guide this Village. We of this Board truly love serving this community, and we hope that they recognize that we put them first.”

Also sworn in that evening returning Village Attorney Kevin M. Walsh and his law firm, members of the Village Administrative, Commission, and Legal staff, as well as the Ethics Board, comprised of Peggy Caltabiano, Lisa Robiglio, and Teresa M. Spinosa.
