The Ride Continues

But slowly

Once upon a time I lived in the Land of Young, and I knew

Chauvinism, but I felt chivalry

Sexual Harassment, but I was wrapped in support from all the men I encountered in life

Prejudice, but I was embraced by meeting, knowing and loving all nationalities and skin colors

Conflict, but I was shrouded in peace

Fear, but I was taught courage

NOW

I live in the Land of Old, and I know

Courage, but I admit to fear

Peace, yet I hear the sounds of conflict

Love, and still I acknowledge prejudice and discrimination

Support, but I admit the reality of sexual harassment

Chivalry, but I recognize chauvinism

The Land of Young spun by quickly on the carousel of life; the Land of Old moves slowly as it winds to the inevitable stop but is accompanied equally with the burden and comfort of memories, both real and imagined, valid and denied, and admittedly, both good and bad.

As the ride continues, each stop opens the door to admit another passenger, wisdom.
