Town Breaks Ground On Renovations At North Massapequa Community Center
The center was shut down after a fire broke out last winter.

The Town of Oyster Bay broke ground for a major renovation at the local community center in North Massapequa after a fire shut down the original building last winter.
The building, which is utilized primarily by local community organizations and senior groups, will reopen next year with more than 20 Town-run programs.
“The interior of the North Massapequa Community Center was destroyed by fire and many community organizations were forced to find a temporary home,” Supervisor Joseph Saladino said. “After obtaining community input, I’m proud to report a major renovation of the North Massapequa Community Center is now underway and the costs of construction are anticipated to be fully covered by the Town’s insurance policy.”

“This building proved to be a convenient location for our residents, particularly the hundreds of seniors who used this facility on a weekly basis,” Councilman Louis Imbroto said. “All programs organized at this center were relocated to other facilities following the fire, and we are pleased to let those groups know they will soon be able to return to the facility.”
All programs originally housed at the North Massapequa Community Center had been relocated to other community facilities, including senior clubs, cultural and performing arts workshops, exercise programs, Knights of Pythias and Knights of Columbus, programs for children, and many more.
