Where are you standing? Does it suit you? Is it providing all that you long for? The attached snapshot depicts my cousin’s son, Hayden, frolicking at the shoreline. One would suppose he has wandered to an area where Divine Intervention dwells and outlines an infinite reservoir of His Favors in the form of an antiquated Cross that looms larger than life with its endless concessions, blessings, and authority. However, images can often provide a highly captivating illusion even when they are unplanned. The behemoth Cross is actually his dad’s walking stick. The placement of Hayden and the questionable apparatus combined with a swerved camera angle and altered up front depth perception transfigures this portrait into a spectacular vehicle permitting a glimpse within the Lord’s heart. This amazing photograph offers an unusual, unique, and refreshing view of an object that would have otherwise probably been deemed as an eyesore or an undesirable device. A rehabilitative approach has transformed a stick into a magnificent redemptive sacramental that transcends our world and its confined and marginalized thinking. Signs are all around us – always. It is time, not to just look, but to ‘see’ and understand that the kingdom of God is everywhere. No part of His grand creation is devoid of it. Faithful individuals are fortunate to live it, accept it, and work for it. What signs are knocking at your door? Will you open it to ‘see’? Perhaps it is time to notice, tend to, and abide by what is beckoning. The choice is yours, but if you don’t try, you may never know the difference between a Cross and a walking stick. All perspectives can be remodeled by God’s healing touch for those who ask, seek, and knock. Maybe an alternate viewpoint is required for you pertaining to a change of job, residence, or relationships. Don’t be frightened. The walking stick becomes a Cross just when you need it most.
1 Peter 2:9, “But you are a chosen race, a royal Priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.”
