Waiting…

Remember hoping and praying for something with such tenacity and fortitude that it took your breath away and consumed your day? When your concentration was usurped and whittled into the very item of your heart’s desire? This is probably a similar feeling that the ancient Israelites experienced over two thousand years ago, while they languished for the highly anticipated prophesied Messiah, who would unburden them, set them free, and place them on the same playing field as those who had oppressed and abused them. They waited for the shackles to be unfastened, so their raw, chafed skin could know the nothingness of liberation. Their time was bided, and marked with their sweat, blood, and frustration. The day finally arrived as foretold in scripture by the presence of an unusual yet stunning star that dwarfed the darkness, and pinpointed where the Precious Child rested – the King of Kings. Some believed, and many turned away.
Advent means “coming,” and for billions of Christians it signifies the arrival of a notable person, Jesus Christ, the Promised One… the One spoken of in the Old Testament. It is a somber and solemn period of reflection and penitence for four weeks, which leads to a manger where our Savior and Redeemer was birthed from the Heavens through human loins.
Born of royal heritage, it is appropriate that the Liturgical color of Advent is purple, which fosters and exemplifies our Lord’s genealogy. These next few weeks are a time of joyful expectancy and inner preparation. Since we are human, God is not requiring perfection, but He is waiting for some plan of action or inward stirring that will facilitate His emergence and wisdom within your being. The infusion of the past and present of God’s people, prophecies, and promises is in our midst. If we settle interiorly, and become still we may hear the wails of yesteryear collide with the blissful exuberance of those who believe in the here and now. Let this season of Advent overcome you with all its eternal importance, imperial ancestry, and Divine truth. It will allow you the time and insight needed to build your plan of renewal and hope for all of mankind. The past was shadowed with yearning and uncertainty, but you live in the era of the blazing Son, who has been showcased and validated throughout the New Testament originating from echoes of the Old Testament. Continue the path, and align yourself with the Almighty. Just in case you still aren’t feeling it yet, you have three more Sundays to grant your Soul this remarkable journey that has spanned generations and bridged millenniums. What are you waiting for…?

Isaiah 9:5, “For a child is born to us, a son is given to us; upon his shoulder dominion rests. They name him Wonder-Counselor, God-Hero, Father-Forever, Prince of Peace.”
