The Way…

I was late. Again.

As I mentally chastised myself for not being better prepared, I pondered what parlayed my persistent tardiness.

Calendars are supposed to keep us on schedule by neatly and clearly juggling and displaying our dizzying commitments and mindless busyness to ensure smoothness and promptness, and like many of you, I live by mine.

During the four weeks before Christmas, we adhere to an Advent calendar that spotlights and numerically counts down to Christmas revealing miniature pop-out trinkets, shiny-coated confectionery delights, or notes of adoration for each special day as we progress toward the Newborn's glorious arrival.

We are well into the first blessed week of Advent with a solitary royal purple candle’s jubilant flame foretelling a miraculous story, radiating a light into the wintry inkiness that occludes physicality, but is pierced by the same Divine Luminescence that also inherently illuminates our hearts and spirits.

It is a period to prepare the way, make straight the path, and call out in the wilderness to announce His much anticipated coming.

While we exhaustively acquiesce to unbridled consumerism, fret over purchasing the desired idolized secular item that will further distract and distance, dive into extravagant decorating, or ruminate about who we can tolerate at the next lavish get together, our Savior waits for you as an indwelling eternal Source within each of us.

Consider that: The Lord of All is waiting for you.

The only preparation required - the connection from your heart to His.

Jesus is already there waiting.

How will you prepare the way?

Perhaps your focus has been askew?

During Advent, Christ is the spiritual centerpiece, and He is glistening oh so brightly, witnessed everywhere with twinkling lights, lit trees with the Promised star glowing atop, and neighborly gratitude extended to strangers.

It's not a season, but a grand state of mind that quells the mental overload and feeds the part of us that has been denied life sustaining nutrients, compassion, and love.

Sit still. Take a deep breathe, and unite with this spectacular energetic wave of Jesus' peace, love, and joy.

The first week of Advent is connection, and with a little preparation everything else will fall into place. Jesus Christ is coming!
