The Village of Massapequa Park may opt out of the two percent tax cap. Should it?

On Monday the is holding a hearing on a proposal to opt out of the state's two percent real estate tax.
Municipalities have the right to opt out if 60 percent of their board agrees to do so. Massapequa Park mayor James Altadonna has signaled that the village may opt out because of the uncertainty surrounding the law.
Massapequa Park could be liable to give money back to the state if their budget projections are wrong.
