Fate threw us together for a brief period when we shared adjacent offices in a small manufacturing plant owned by the cousin of a now famed politician.
However, that is not part of this story.

Flo was a superb bookkeeper and managed the finances of the company.
My position was Executive Secretary for Paul, President and CEO of the company , who, as well as being a nice man, never forgot to be kind.

Now long after the demise of the firm when both Flo and I went our separate ways I still remember two of her pronouncements:
“Nothing lasts forever.”.
Words I have oft quoted as well as the jovial advice she once gave to an older employee, then celebrating a significant birthday:
‘Frank, now it’s time to stop buying green bananas.”
Of course, while eating the lavish birthday cake, we all laughed.
However, now I beg to disagree with the then laugh provoking statement.
Life has since taught me the wisdom of the first quote, but now, forgive me Flo, I must adamantly disagree with your second opinion:
If and when life gifts another chapter, either brief or prolonged, it is time to enjoy whatever provides you pleasure, whether it be unripened fruit or possibly an extra scoop of ice cream
Every extra moment we are allowed to spend on this amazing journey (we all share called life, ) is meant to be viewed with not only gratitude, but also, enjoyment of an unparalleled gift of time.
Because “Nothing is worth more than this day.” – Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
