A Year of…

Dare to fill in the blank? Where is your bliss zone – the area that shakes your world, or stirs your Soul? What is that lump in your gut that you incessantly squash down like a regurgitated meatball that somehow floats back up as soon as you let your guard down? We all have at least one of these unsettling, self-propelling entities trying to rise upward from time to time, and if we aren’t tenaciously persistent in harnessing its concealment, it might actually breach the barriers of the obscure barren landscape we anchor it to with an unabashed arrival. Why do we fear it? Should we grant it upward motility and manifestation?

That which is unknown is scary… maybe. Living in the same unfulfilling rut for decades has a higher appeal than navigating the darkness, but what if your path lies in that very place? This isn’t to suggest that your true nature is sinister or impious. It is merely a suggestion that everything is not rose colored, the obvious is not necessarily the correct pathway, and the absence of light does not castrate goodness. Throughout the ages man has tried to quell the darkness with candles, torches, and fire pits. Then, the advent of tamed electrical currency and the impeccable, prevalent, and widely disseminated lightbulb ensured illumination always and forever. The darkness had finally lost its fierce footing, yet we each hold a tiny piece of it lodged in our being. It shows up as fear, procrastination, self-limiting obstacles that corner us like a mitered edge, negative thoughts of ourselves precisely dovetailed into the perfect excuse to do nothing, and hurtful words we hurl at others – alas, someone must be blamed. They all register as an unwanted hashtag looped around our necks, and dragging us into deeper descent. Despite modern advancements and technologies, it turns out that darkness is alive and well.

Jesus entered the earth as the Light of the world; His Light still shines bright. The darkness has not overcome it. We are made of and from the same Light as God. Therefore, we too are Light. Perhaps we need to imbue our Spirits with His pervasive will and acumen. Thinking about something is the first step to it materializing. For many of us, it must percolate in our consciousness so it can become diffused of all the contrary, austere beliefs that cloud its auspicious mission.

Did Jesus avoid or curb His actions or words, worry about pernicious situations or outcomes, or decide not to save or heal someone because it could have had daunting or sacrificial repercussions for Him? He did not. He let His Light shine, and forever turned His back to darkness. He is our shield, who walks before us. We have nothing to fear. What do you hope for, desperately desire? Is your Soul guiding you to your next grand adventure, or perhaps directing you to a misplaced inherent piece of your Spirit? It’s time to let that internal lump surface, and let it dwell in the glimmering brightness. It could be the answer you’ve been searching for, or a proposal that will charter you to a new destination. Everything need not be fully exposed or explained because Jesus walks with you, and His shield is mighty. You are safe. Take hold of His hand…your path awaits…
