‘You Can’t Sit With Us’: Massapequa Drama Club Produces ‘Mean Girls’

The musical is an adaptation of the 2004 movie written by Tina Fey.

MASSAPEQUA, NY. — “Fetch” might finally happen next month, as Massapequa High School students bring the musical adaptation of Mean Girls to the stage March 6 and 7.

The musical follows the same plot as the 2004 comedy movie, with homeschooled student Cady Heron transferring to an American public high school and quickly learning the complicated ins and outs of social life there. Playing the role of Cady in this production is senior Allison Hassell, who said the production has managed to teach her a new lesson as she wraps up her time at Massapequa High.

“It’s a really good way to celebrate the end of high school with a show that’s about
high school,” Hassell said. “Figuring out who they want to be is a lesson people take with
them as they leave high school.”
