Nor'easter: Flood Watch, Coastal Flood Advisory, Wind Advisory Issued

Medford could get drenched with 3 inches of rain.

An approaching December nor’easter shows no signs of sparing Long Island from heavy rain and potentially damaging winds.

The National Weather Service has issued several alerts for the island:

  • Flood watch- in effect from 6 a.m. Tuesday until 1 a.m. Wednesday
  • Coastal flood advisory- in effect from 7 a.m. Tuesday until 11 a.m. Tuesday
  • Wind advisory- in effect from 8 a.m. Tuesday until 5 p.m. Tuesday

Wind gusts will be strongest Tuesday morning into the early afternoon, the NWS said. These wind gusts of up to 50 mph may cause scattered power outages and possible damage to holiday decorations.
