Police: Medford Man Threatened Restaurant Employees

Local man among three arrested following incident in Southampton.

A Medford man was among three men arrested on Saturday night at Cabana Latina in Southampton after they entered the kitchen and threatened employees with knives while swinging chairs and smashing plates, according to Southampton Town Police.

Police received a call about a fight at the restaurant on Montauk Highway at about 10:25 p.m.

Several police units responded to the restaurant and employees explained that the men, who were patrons of the bar, came into the kitchen and began to threaten the employees, according to police.

The three man had already left the area prior to the arrival of the police.

A responding police officer stopped the vehicle in which the suspects had fled, police said.

The three men were arrested and taken to Southampton Town Police headquarters for processing. They were held overnight and brought for arraignment Sunday morning.

According to police, the three men face the following charges:

  • Vitor Goncalves-Esteves, 31, of Port Jefferson Station; DWI, second degree assault, criminal possession of a weapon, fourth degree criminal mischief, and second degree menacing. Posted $500 bail.
  • Prisciliano Cruz, 32, of Medford; fourth degree criminal mischief. Released on his own recognizance
  • Nelson Esteves, 25, of Hampton Bays; second degree menacing, fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon, and fourth degree criminal mischief. Posted $250 bail.
