FREEPORT, NY. — The Long Island Railroad’s Babylon Branch is facing delays and possible cancellations Wednesday after a person was struck by a train in Freeport, MTA officials said.

MTA officials did not confirm whether or not the incident was fatal Wednesday, nor could they confirm the identity of the person struck. Nassau County police said MTA police were handling the investigation at the train station.

The MTA said its 5:16 train from Penn Station to Babylon was canceled and that riders could take the 5:19 train from Penn Station to Wantagh which would be making all stops to Babylon. The 4:12 p.m., 4:25 p.m. and 4:51 p.m. trains from Penn Station to Wantagh and Babylon were also canceled Wednesday, while a 3:18 p.m. train from Babylon to Penn Station was also cancelled. Other trains along the Babylon line are running on 15-to-20 minute delays, MTA officials said.
