Photos: Fire Tears Through Merrick Home
Flames engulfed part of a Grand Avenue home Thursday morning.
A resident escaped unharmed as a fire tore through a Merrick home Thursday morning, according to Merrick fire officials.
Nassau County Police said they received the call at 8:36 a.m. for a fire in a Grand Avenue home.
The Merrick Fire Department rushed to the scene and tackled the fire that had taken over the first floor of the home.

A woman living in the home was able to escape, according to fire officials.
A cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed.
