2 Nabbed On Thruway With 11 Pounds Of Pot

Troopers initially stopped the men for a traffic violation.

COXSACKIE, NY — Two men were stopped for a vehicle and traffic violation on I-87 and ended up facing felony drug charges. State police stopped the vehicle, driven by Elvyn M. Colon, 33, around 4:57 p.m. May 31 in the Town of Coxackie, Greene County.

Troopers said they found probable cause to search the vehicle and its occupants.

Colon and his passenger — Jawon J. Dicarlo, 38, of Schenectady — were found to be in possession of about 11 pounds of marijuana, police said.

They were taken into custody and charged with the following:

  • First-degree criminal possession of marijuana, a felony (both men)
  • Violation of parole, a felony (Dicarlo only)
  • Vehicle and traffic violation (Colon only)

Both men were arraigned in the Town of Coxsackie Court and sent to the Greene County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail or bond for Colon and $20,000 bail or bond for Dicarlo.
