Correction Officer Charged With Raping Inmate

Police said evidence of the sexual relationship was found following a search of the inmate's cube.

MONTICELLO, NY — A correction officer was arrested July 20 on rape and prison contraband charges. State police said Teeka Perkins, 44, of Monticello, is employed as a correction officer, assigned to the Woodbourne Correctional Facility in the Town of Fallsburgh, Sullivan County.

During a one-month investigation conducted by the state police Bureau of Criminal Investigation out of SP Liberty and the state Department of Correction and Community Supervision Office of Special Investigations, it was discovered that Perkins was involved in a sexual relationship with a Woodbourne inmate.

Police said evidence of the sexual relationship was found following a search of the inmate’s cube and a subsequent search of Perkins’ Monticello residence.

She was charged with third-degree rape, a felony, and second-degree promoting prison contraband and official misconduct, misdemeanors.

Perkins has been suspended without pay pending the outcome of court proceedings.

She was arraigned and sent to the Sullivan County Jail on $25,000 bail or $25,000 bond.

The Sullivan County District Attorney’s Office assisted with the investigation.
