Fired Deputy Sheriff Accused of Growing, Selling Pot: UPDATE

The deputy sheriff is being prosecuted in Arizona.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — The Dutchess County Sheriff who was fired after being arrested by federal agents was accused of growing and selling marijuana.

The Poughkeepsie Journal said Rosario J. Scavelli was arrested by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Homeland Security Investigations and is being investigate by the District Attorney’s Office in Pima County, Arizona.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — A Dutchess County Sheriff’s Deputy was fired after being arrested by federal agents.

The Daily Voice said questions about Rosario J. Scavelli’s arrest were referred to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security by Capt. John Watterson of the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office.

Scavelli was as part-time employee since 2008, the Poughkeepsie Journal said, adding that such employees supplement full-time staff as needed for special events.
