I-87 Traffic Stop Leads To Felony DWI For Queens Man

Police said the defendant refused to take a breath test for alcohol content in his system.

ULSTER, NY — A Queens man faces a felony drunk driving charge after being stopped on I-87 for multiple vehicle and traffic violations. State Police said Sean P. Buggy, 30, of Bayside, was allegedly intoxicated and in possession of a small quantity of marijuana when he was pulled over.

Additionally, Buggy allegedly tried to damage State Police property while he was in custody.

He was taken to the Kingston barracks, where he refused to submit to a breath test to determine the alcohol content in his system.

Police said Buggy has a prior DWI conviction that happened within the last decade, and as a result, he was charged with driving while intoxicated with a previous conviction within 10 years, a felony.

He was also charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation; reckless endangerment of property, a misdemeanor, and other vehicle and traffic violations.

Buggy was arraigned in the Town of Hurley Court and sent to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $10,00 bail or $50,000 bond.

He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Ulster Court May 3.
