Marist Dorm Locked Down Due To Coronavirus Concern
A student who attended an off-campus party tested positive for the virus and had come into contact with some of the dorm's residents.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — A freshman dorm at Marist College was locked down due to a positive test for the new coronavirus. One student who came into contact with residents of the dorm was infected after attending a party off-campus.
The student has not attended any in-person classes and has not come onto the campus, Mid Hudson News reported.
Officials said the student had come into contact with several Marist students, some of whom are residents of Champagnat Hall, at the party.

The college had suspended 15 students Sunday for attending an off-campus party at which guidelines for health and safety were not followed.
President Dennis Murray said in a letter to students that he wanted to emphasize how strictly the policies would be enforced.
Disciplinary consequences could include suspension and dismissal from the college. The campus could be shut down to in-person classes as a last resort.
"Please don't be a knucklehead who disregards the safety of others and puts our ability to remain on campus at risk," Murray said.
