Orange County Man Accused Of Attempted Murder

Police said the man tried to kill someone who was leaving his house through his front door.

GOSHEN, NY — An Orange County man was accused of trying to kill a man as he was coming out of his home.

Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler said Christopher Sicina, 22, of Port Jervis was charged Friday with second-degree attempted murder, first-degree criminal use of a firearm, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and first-degree reckless endangerment, felonies.

The charges stem from a shooting Nov. 3 where prosecutors said multiple gunshots were fired at a home on Hammond Street in Port Jervis.

Police said Sicina tried to kill a resident of that home by shooting at him as he was leaving through his front door.

He was also charged with third-degree unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor, when officers tried to take him into custody Jan. 3.

Sicina was arraigned Jan. 21 in county court and sent to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.

He is next scheduled to appear in court Thursday.

Hoovler said gun violence simply cannot be tolerated.

"My office will continue to work with all of law enforcement partners to eliminate gun violence in our communities," he said.
