State, Local Officials Collaborated with Gap Inc. to Get Distribution Center Back to Work
The Aug. 29 fire was intentionally set and still under investigation.

FISHKILL, NY — Governor Andrew Cuomo spoke to employees and local officials at the the Gap Inc. distribution center in Fishkill Wednesday and told them it was a collaboration between local and state government and the Gap that got the center back on its feet after the Aug. 29 fire.
As of last week, there were 1,200 regular employees plus 300 seasonal hires working at the center, the Poughkeepsie Journal said. There were no layoffs because of the blaze.
The investigation into the fire is ongoing.

Authorities said the blaze was intentionally set. Building 100, where about 600 people worked, was completely destroyed. The entire distribution center employed about 1,300 people.
