10 Area Accidents in 2011

There were many accidents in the area over the course of the year, but the most troubled spot has been the intersection of Echo Avenue and Route 25A in Mt. Sinai, where Patch reported seven serious accidents at the location.

A utility pole in the parking lot of the Miller Place Plaza off Route 25a in Miller Place was downed on Feb. 28, causing delays on 25a due to a downed wire in the road along with property damage. Some cars were unable to avoid the wires and crashed. 

A head-on collision in Mt. Sinai at Echo Avenue and Route 25A sent three people to the hospital, one in critical condition.

Five reported victims with injuries resulting from two-car crash.

On June 15 three accidents occured along 25A; one in Miller Place, one in Rocky Point and another in Mt. Sinai

Two people were pinned inside their vehicles, sent to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Another accident occured at the 25A, Echo Avenue interchange in Mt. Sinai when a three-car crash took place in December.

A Mount Sinai man died after he crashed into a utility pole on North Ocean Avenue in Mount Sinai but police are unsure if he suffered a medical emergency before the crash.

A Sound Beach man was arrested and charged with DWI after crashing his small sedan, pinning two passengers inside the vehicle. 

A Rocky Point woman was arrested and charged with DWI first offense on a Saturday night in late November after flipping her car on King Road in Rocky Point.
