Rocky Point Salutatorian Taking $100K Scholarship to Harvard

Alan Rozet has earned a $100,00 national scholarship from the Proton OnSite Scholarship Program to pursue his degree in science or technology.

Rocky Point Salutatorian Alan Rozet has earned a $100,000 national scholarship from the Proton OnSite Scholarship Program to pursue a four-year undergraduate degree in science or technology. He will be taking that scholarship to Harvard University in the fall.

Rozet has maintained a weighted grade point average of 104.03 throughout his career at . He was named a Commended Student in the 2012 National Merit Scholarship Program and an Advanced Placement (AP) Scholar with Honor, having taken nine AP courses for college credit.

The senior currently tutors students each week in chemistry and mathematics and is a member of the varsity tennis team. In past summers, Alan attended Ithaca Summer College and the University of Pennsylvania for business and computer graphics courses. His AP physics course, taken through the Summer Academy in Applied Science, sparked his intent to pursue a career in the field of science and technology.

“We are so proud of Alan for receiving this prestigious scholarship, which will help fund his academic career at Harvard University this fall," said Rocky Point High School guidance counselor Michael Conlon said. "Alan is not only an exceptional student, but a wonderful individual as well, and he is extremely deserving of this award.”

Rozet was one of three recipients of the Proton OnSite scholarship and the only
recipient from New York State. The scholarship is awarded to high school students on the basis of merit, financial need, and the individual’s intent to further his or her education in the field of science and technology.
