Teen 'Seriously Injured' In Crash On Long Island Expressway

She was involved in a chain reaction crash involving four vehicles, police say.

HOLTSVILLE, NY — An 18-year-old woman was seriously injured in a crash on the Long Island Expressway in Holtsville on Tuesday night, Suffolk police said.

Kenneth Alveari was driving a 2008 Kia Sorrento on the westbound LIE, attempting to merge onto the exit ramp at exit 62, when it struck a 2007 Ford Mustang, driven by Jacqueline Gonzalez, at about 4:30 p.m., according to police. The Ford struck a 2004 Nissan Altima, driven by Edward O’Moore-Klopf and the Nissan struck a 2019 Dodge Ram, which was driven by Ricardo Barbaduenas, police said.

Gonzalez of Shirley, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of "serious injuries," according to police. Alveari, 40, of Holbrook, O’Moore-Klopf, 60, of East Setauket, and Barbaduenas, 28, of Selden, were not injured in the crash, police said.

All of the vehicles involved in the crash were impounded for safety checks. Detectives are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact the 6th Squad at 631-854-8652.
