Earle Schwalje, 91, Former Mineola School Principal
Former Army pilot passed away on Feb. 23, 2013.

Earle Schwalje, age 91, of Leisure Village East, Lakewood, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013 at his home.
He was a school principal in the Mineola School District on Long Island, NY for 23 years before retiring in 1982. Prior to that he was a teacher, guidance counselor and school psychologist.
He served as a pilot in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was also a flight instructor in the South Pacific.

After moving to Leisure Village East in 1984, he became a member of the Men’s Club, the Nature Club, Deborah, the Cloisters, Heritage Club, Discussion Forum, Dance Club and Men’s Golf Club. He also served as a Trustee of Leisure Village East. For many years, he was an active member of Literacy Volunteers.
He was predeceased by his wife, Marjory. He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Christopher Berry of Sarasota, FL and 3 grandchildren.
