Roads to be closed throughout weekend of October 7-10

The Long Island Rail Road has announced that it will be
conducting scheduled track work on the LIRR’s Main Line Branch during the
weekend of October 7-10 that will necessitate the closing of Willis Avenue and
Main Streets to vehicular traffic, as follows:

The Main Street railroad grade crossing, located on the
Long Island Rail Road’s Main Line Branch, has been scheduled for track work on
October 8, 9 & 10. The track work will require the closing of the road to
traffic on these dates, between the hours of 12:00 am Saturday October 8 until
2:00 am Monday October 10.

The Willis Avenue railroad grade crossing has been
scheduled for track work on October 7, 8 & 9. The track work will require
the closing of the road to traffic on these dates, between the hours of 10:00 pm
Friday October 7 until 4:00 am Sunday October 9.

While the work is in progress, the Long Island Rail Road
and the MTA Police will provide the necessary flagmen, detour signs and crossing
protection. In addition, the LIRR is contacting the Nassau County Police
Department and local fire departments.
