Improper Garbage Storage Is Cause of Mount Vernon Rat Problem
City workers spread poison and laid out traps over the weekend.

MOUNT VERNON, NY - Badly managed garbage is thought to be the cause of a rodent problem in Mount Vernon.
More than 20 summonses were issued by city officials last weekend in the vicinity of North Bond Street and Mount Vernon Avenue, according to Ernie Garcia of the Journal News.
Poison and traps were laid out over the weekend in the neighborhood.
