Police Say Driver Of Car In Serious Bee-Line Bus Crash Impaired

Several people on the Bee-Line bus, including the driver were hurt in a 3-car collision during the Monday early morning commute.

MOUNT VERNON, NY — Several people were hurt this morning in a crash involving a Bee-Line bus in Westchester County.

Two cars reportedly collided, before an SUV struck the bus, according to police. Nine passengers on the bus reportedly suffered minor injures. Passengers in the two other vehicles were also hurt in the crash.

The wreck happened just after 7 a.m. near the intersection of Summit Avenue and East Lincoln Avenue in Mount Vernon. According to reports from CBS News2 New York and News 12 Westchester, the bus driver was among the nine people in the bus injured in the collision with an SUV.

Police told CBS News that officers found marijuana edibles inside the car of 25-year-old Nicole Smith who was involved in the initial collision. She reportedly failed a sobriety test and told cops she had been "out partying" and may have earlier hit another car on Amsterdam Avenue in Manhattan.

Authorities told the television station that Smith will be charged with operating a vehicle while impaired by drugs after she undergoes treatment for injuries she suffered in the crash.
