Two Unrelated Shootings In Mount Vernon Tuesday

MOUNT VERNON, NY — Two shootings in Mount Vernon Tuesday were unrelated, police said. Only one was fatal.
At a press conference Tuesday night with city officials and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, Mount Vernon Police Chief Richton Ziadie said a man was killed in the first shooting, which was at 240 S. Seventh Ave.
The second shooting was between the Mount Vernon-Yonkers border and the intersection of North Terrace Avenue and Oak Street. The victims, a woman and a man, were injured but are expected to live, Ziadie said. Anyone with information is urged to call police.

"The bottom line is guns and drugs are a bad combination," said Mayor Richard Thomas.
