The 1-month-old baby was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS.

The baby's mother told a neighbor that the child was sleeping between her and the stepfather when the dog attacked.

"She told me she woke up, and the dog was eating the baby!" Chewing on the baby’s face!" the neighbor told the Post.

The city’s Animal Care Centers of NYC took the German Shepherd-pit bull mix puppy and another dog out of the apartment after the incident.

The parents of the baby have not been identified.

An investigation remains ongoing.
