NYC Weather Forecast: Snow Looms Over Chilly Start To Week

NYC isn't out of the winter woods yet.

NEW YORK, NY — It's back. Snow is threatening to hit New York City once again as the second week of April gets off to a chilly start, the National Weather Service says.

Springtime flurries creep back into the forecast early Tuesday morning ahead of a drizzle that will last into that afternoon, according to the NWS. The flakes should stop by 8 a.m. and no accumulation is expected.

"Any lingering precipitation Tuesday afternoon will fall as rain as temperatures rise well into the 40s," the NWS said in a statement.

The snow is expected during a chilly period for this time of the year. The NWS predicts high temperatures near 45 and 47 degrees for Monday and Tuesday, respectively — more than 10 degrees below the normal high of 59.

But it won't be anything like last Monday's springtime snowfall, which dropped more than six inches of snow on some parts of the city and forced the postponement of the Yankees' home opener.

Things will warm up after the sun comes out Wednesday, making for a nice end to the week despite the possibly snowy start. High temperatures will steadily increase starting before hitting about 72 with sunny skies on Friday and Saturday, the NWS says.
