2 Boys Approached by Stranger Flashing a Badge: Police

The New City incident was reported Tuesday.

The Clarkstown Police Department is investigating a suspicious incident involving two 14-year-old boys who were approached by a stranger at about 3 p.m. Sept. 10 on Goebel Road in New City.

The incident was reported to the department Sept. 15, by the mother of the boys.

The stranger was described as a white male in his 20’s with short hair and a beard, driving a red car, possibly a Nissan with an Army bumper sticker on the rear bumper.

Police said the man approached the boys while they were walking on Goebel Road in the area of Scher Court. He asked the boys if they wanted a ride home and he stated that he was an officer, showing some type of badge. The boys declined the offer and the driver drove off without any further contact.

The Clarkstown School District has been notified of the incident.

Police ask anyone with any information about the incident to contact the Clarkstown Detective Bureau at 845-639-5840.

“ Please remind your children to avoid contact with strangers and report any suspicious incidents as quickly as possible,” police said.
