Gromack Part of Federal Ethics Investigation

The Journal News reports that the Clarkstown supervisor is part of a wide-ranging probe of Rockland officials by U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara

Clarkstown Town Supervisor Alex Gromack is the subject of a federal investigation over his connections with a Rockland County businessman, The Journal News reported.

According to the paper, Gromack did not file a required ethics form about the $10,000 he received from Richard Brega for referring people to his transportation business.

Brega runs RTB Industries, and also operates the county’s bus system.

Gromack told reporter Steve Lieberman that he had received an opinion from the town’s Ethics Board that no conflict existed.

“In addition to reviewing Gromack’s forms, the federal grand jury subpoenaed Rockland Board of Ethics filings and other documents for numerous current and former members of the Rockland Legislature, Rockland County Sewer Commission, and Rockland Solid Waste Management Authority, as well as any former county political chairperson,” Lieberman wrote.
