Here in Rockland, we recognize that each and every child has the fundamental right to grow up in a safe and supportive home. When a youth comes into foster care, our number one priority is placing them in one of those homes. We are currently looking to grow our group of foster or adoptive families. Fostering a child is an opportunity to make a real difference in a young person’s life.
We passionately believe that every child deserves the warmth and security of a loving home which is why we are reaching out to compassionate hearts like yours.
The Rockland County DSS Homefinders value our foster parents and see them as true heroes. They are the true embodiment of selflessness, offering comfort and healing to children who have faced unimaginable hardships. In fact, when prospective foster parents attend our Rockland County Department of Social Services Foster Parenting Training, we let them know from the onset of their journey that we value them and see them as true heroes for opening their hearts and their homes to children in need.

To quote Vicki Weiner, one of our veteran foster parents, “although the day-to-day aspects of fostering can be difficult; over time you begin to adapt, and you are able to see change in the children.” Another foster parent, Yvette Mena, shares that “by providing stability and structure, you see these children transform.”
We are also always looking for the ultimate superheroes; homes to foster or adopt larger sibling groups. The agency is committed to keeping families together as often as possible. Placing siblings together can ease some of the trauma that they are already experiencing by being separated from their parents.
