Ramapo Shuts Down Yeshiva After Fios1 Report
The news station showed rotting waste and safety violations at the private school in April.

In the aftermath of a Fios1 report on a garbage-strewn yeshiva in Ramapo, town officials have shuttered it for safety violations.
The school at 33 Forshay Road belongs to congregation Ateres Yisroel, the TV station reported. "Last month, our cameras captured piles of trash, broken structures and other unsafe conditions ... Ramapo's chief building inspector, Tony Mallia, says his staff performed a lengthy inspection at the site Tuesday and, 'We deemed the structures unsafe and unsuitable for occupancy.'"

Fios1 also had a comment from Rockland Housing Illegal Task Force Member Justin Schwartz about the previous 10 years during which the yeshiva has come under scrutiny.

Fios1 reports that this is the first time Ramapo officials have shut down such a facility. Many concerns have been expressed by emergency responders about safety issues at local yeshivas.
