U.S. News Ranks Both Clarkstown High Schools Among the Best in New York

More than 400 New York high schools were recently ranked.

Another judgement is out on the top high schools in New York State as U.S. News & World Report released its rankings Tuesday.

Clarkstown High School South and Clarkstown North Senior High School are among them.

The latest rankings, released Tuesday, put Clarkstown South at No. 128 in New York State and No. 1233 in the country; and Clarkstown North at No. 135 in the state and No. 1329 in the U.S.

Rankings are based on student to teacher ratios, college readiness with regard to Advanced Placement exam scores, and proficiency in mathematics and English.

Of the 37 percent of Clarkstown South students who take AP exams, 35 percent of them pass, according to the report. About 99 percent of students are proficient in math and 94 percent are proficient in English.

The school has a 14:1 student to teacher ratio.

Of the 37 percent of Clarkstown North students who take AP exams, 33 percent of them pass, according to the report. About 93 percent of students are proficient in math and 95 percent are proficient in English.

The school also has a 14:1 student to teacher ratio.

There were 439 New York high schools that made the rankings.
