Furry Friends to Enjoy 'Doggie Pool Party' in New Hyde Park
The best pool party ever returns for its second year.
The Town of North Hempstead is giving the people what they want and that’s the second annual Doggie Pool Party celebration in New Hyde Park.
In what may be the best idea in Town history, nearly 100 happy dogs splashed into Clinton G. Martin Park pool last year to celebrate the end of summer for the first ever Doggie Pool Party.
Since the first one was a huge success, another celebration filled with furry friends will be held Tuesday, Sept. 6 from 4-7 p.m.

The dogs will get to take a dip into the pool right before it is drained for the season.
“What better time to allow dogs in the pool,” Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth said in a press release. “After last year’s extremely successful Doggie Pool Party, we are looking forward to once again offering an opportunity to allow our residents to bring their dogs to our pool for a swim.”

The Town has been more welcoming of our furry friends over the past year. Last year, the Town made it a violation to leave a dog in a hot car and allowed dog owners to bring their dogs on leashes to local parks. Now, dogs on leashes are welcome at North Hempstead Beach Park, the Hempstead Harbor Trail, Mary Jane Davies Green and Michael J. Tully Park.
The event is free and pre-registration is required. Anyone who attends must live within the New Hyde Park special park district. You don’t have to be a member of the pool to participate.
Dogs also must have with a valid and up-to-date dog license. For more information, call 311 or 516-869-6311.
